IPOH, April 10 (Bernama) -- Fifty-five students and 21 teachers, including those in the Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Program (ETA) participated in the first CLICK! 5.0 camps to help youth from rural areas to master their English and entrepreneurship skills.
The programme was funded by the United States Embassy and managed by the Leadership Empowerment And Development (LEAD) Institute, partnered by the education ministry and the Malaysian-American Alumni Partnership.
CLICK! 5.0 project director, Nadzatul Shima Jaafar said in line with the tagline this year, 'Building Community Heroes', CLICK! 5.0 aimed to inspire and empower youth to be community heroes and champions.
"Trained by social entrepreneurship experts, participants and their mentors work closely in identifying the most pressing social issues that they want to solve."
"This is followed by listing the key solutions and later pitching the projects to a panel of notable judges," she told reporters after the Pitching Competition and Closing Ceremony of CLICK! 5.0.
CLICK! 5.0 will reach 14 to 16-year-old suburban and rural high school students from eight states in Malaysia, namely Perak, Kedah, Perlis, Selangor, Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan and Sabah.
